This classic melody works great on the mandolin. Make sure to pay attention to pick direction markers and fret hand fingerings in the tabs. While it's totally fine to only place down the finger indicated for a given note, it will really help your playing improve if you can put down multiple fingers when possible. For example, if the tab indicated for you to place down your second finger, also place down your first finger on the string and fret behind it. For your third finger, place down your second and first finger on the string and frets behind that. This type of coordination will really help get your hands into great shape. Use the time when open strings are being played to make any necessary position shifts.
