Learning the words to a melody can really help you internalize the rhythm, pitch changes and memorize it well. This helps you connect your mandolin playing to everyone's first instrument - your voice. After learning the basic melody check out a few of the filler licks that will help you a little something extra to those empty measures. Most of the licks aren't too tough.
