John Reischman

Recomended level: Intermediate

This is a great mandolin tune written by John Reischman. A good melody sounds good on any instrument, and this one is beautiful on guitar. Check out the Bluegrass version to get your hands and ears around the melody and form of the tune. It's a simplified version that'll be great for any player. It can be made even easier with the difficulty slider if you are a beginner. Intermediate and advanced players, use this simple version if you have the need for speed. Less notes and less string crossings get you on the highway to life in the fast lane. It also serves as a simple and excellent launching pad to add licks and variations.

The Crosspicking version of this tune is closely based on the mandolin playing of John Reischman. When played on mandolin he uses the A and E strings as drones through much of the piece. We can emulate that by playing the open G and 3rd fret B string. Remember to capo at the 2nd fret if jamming with others or playing with the original recording. Listen to that to hear the connection to what Mr. Reischman plays on the mando and what we are playing on the guitar. Also, use those Tunefox tools to make your practice time more personalized for your needs and skill level. If you are up for even more challenge check out some of those licks!
