This is a great Old-Time tune. Like many songs in the folk tradition. The exact way the melody and even chord changes are played can vary from person to person or region to region. When at a jam session make sure to use your ears and eyes to fall in closely with the rest of the group. If you notice the "greater than" symbol above the tablature, that is an accent symbol. It means you should play that note slightly harder than others. Adding different accent patterns in the melody can really help bring it to life, and you can make the same thing sound vastly different by changing that up. Again, when at a jam listen to where other players are placing their accents and try to fall in the groove with them.
