Nothing but the melody boys and girls. With an arrangement this simple, we can always focus on other elements of playing besides what our left hand is doing and which direction our pick is going. We can focus on the important stuff. Tone. Timing. Two essential elements to making music. Use a rest stroke to bring out good tone and volume. Experiment with the angle of your pick, and the placement of your pick attack. Closer to the bridge will be brighter, while playing closer to the soundhole or neck will warm up your tone. Just as a pick flat on the strings will give you the brightest tone(for one picking location), and striking the string with an angled pick will give you a darker tone(for the same location). That's another level of tone control. You don't need knobs. You are an artist. These are your the colors in your palette. Now, Paint!
