If that's too tough you can just play the 5th string in pace of any spot where drop thumb is needed and that will still sound great! There's a lot of great licks to explore here, so dig into those after you get the basic arrangement down. Try to really think critically about how the licks connect to the original arrangement. Doing this reverse engineering can help you start to create licks of your own.
