This is a bit of a step-up from the basic version. There's a few difference which add interest and challenge. In regards to the picking pattern, a "skip" is being used. Instead of Bum Ditty Ditty, you'll skip the first "Dit". The resulting pattern "Bum --- y Ditty" can be clearly heard when listening along with the Tunefox player. Listen several times before trying to play. You can strike the air just above the 1st string to keep track of this rhythm physically.
The other interesting addition here is the use of more full chords. This gives you a much bigger sound and will help this piece sound rich and complex even when playing solo. Some of the chord shapes may be new and tough. Practice those individually. If you can't yet make a particular chord, play the note that's on the first string in that chord and keep going. This way you can start to play the song, maintain the melody, and add in the chord after you have practiced it well. Fingerings for these banjo chords maybe tough, so pay close attention to the tablature to read and use the suggested fingerings for each chord.
