This vamping arrangement is a wonderful demonstration of moving between the root shape and 1st inversion shape for each chord. Knowing that the 1st inversion shape is always just 5 frets above or 7 frets behind the root shape is a great way to add variety when hanging on a chord for a while. It can also give a leading sound when switching to a different chord. Listen to and read through the arrangement to hear and see this in action.
The licks will demonstrate some alternate options for your vamping. Some stylish "walks" are introduced. There's some nice bits of rolling backup out of these common vamping shapes as well. Dig in and enjoy. Look for patterns and try to reuse a lick in another tune.
