These accents are over the First melody note in each measure and the lead in notes. Notice how the lead in notes usually come in groups of 3. This is very common in bluegrass music. Adding these accents at the first downbeat of each measure and in the lead in notes will give you a very strong rhythmic feel. Check out the licks for some tasteful variations.
