This version of the Old Homeplace demonstrates a concept you can use with other songs. We use the most important notes in a melody, the ones that are repeated the most or held out the longest. Then, we end up with a dead simple version that we use as a spring board to add in rolls and licks and create something new. The rolls and licks highlight those key melody notes and also work with the chord of the moment.
