What a beautiful melody. This one goes up the banjo neck quite a bit, but it is mostly on the first string. Playing this on the banjo doesn't require you to switch strings very much. That is a good thing for beginners because it means you could pretty much play this entire song with one finger from each hand! Your middle finger is your strongest finger, at first try using that finger to play this for both your pick and fretting hand. If you know common pick fingers for "home" position in the Scruggs style and for your fretting hand, then by all means do that!

As you progress you will want to learn to use multiple fingers for your pick and fretting hands. In beginning stages, sometimes it's encouraging to remove any barriers between you and beginning to make music. That joy and satisfaction can drive you to work harder and practice more technique and keep learning new songs.
