It's time for a workout! We start slow on purpose. This exercise is not about speed. Evenness of timing should be your only focus. Aim for accuracy, playing relaxed, and reducing excess motion in your pick hand. An important thing to notice about the rolls is the fingers that are used in the picking pattern. That is what truly defines a roll pattern, not the strings that are used. Here's Some examples: TITM = Alternating Thumb Roll. TIMTMITM = Forward Backward Roll. Pay attention and memorize the rest of the patterns, then try that picking pattern by using a different set of strings, or even a single string!
